G Clef

The G CLEF series was part of several series of acrylic paintings designed to symbolize, through illegible texts, the Babel-like chaos in the world. The illegibility of music notations, at least among the general world population, is evident. I was delighted to find a stencil of a G clef because ever since I took piano lessons in childhood, I have considered a G clef to be an elegant notation. I was delighted to find a stencil that would enable me to create paintings of that notation, and I welcomed the opportunity to use, in the background, what my favorite art teacher, K. Coffin, described in a review of my first art exhibition, back in the 1970s, as my "velvety transition from one color to the next." My deteriorated eyesight required me to use a limited palette. I still delighted in using bright colors.
